Parent Academy- Reading/ELA
ELA stands for English Language Arts. The learning of ELA includes reading, writing, speaking, listening and language. The process of reading is unique in that it is made up of 5 essential elements. Each element works in tandem with one another to give rise to the ability to read with fluency and understanding. The Reading Academy will arm you with a meaningful and necessary skillset that will give rise to your reading journey.
Our mission is to Engage, Empower and Explore with the parent educator in the subject area of reading and ELA.
Many of our kiddos are dependent readers. The PTA Engages our parents in task that enhances the desire and love for reading. Learning the foundations for reading is imperative no matter the age of the reader. Building competence and confidence in our kiddos reading ability fosters independence and lifelong learners.
The PTA Empowers parents to make fundamental decisions about education content and programs whether they are free, one you have purchased or one that has been provided by your district. This empowerment of knowing puts parents in control of guiding the student learning experience.
Explore in the usage of teacher delivered lesson strategies in the comfort of our home. Exploration enhances reading agility and fosters lifelong learning.

Phonemic Awareness
The ability to manipulate letters to sound.
Phonics
The relationship between sounds and spelling.
Comprehension
The understanding and interpretation of what is read.
Vocabulary
The process of learning new words to enhance varying forms of communication to include listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Fluency
The ability to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression.
Resources
The culmination of the Reading Session will provide access to free/suggested resources to use in the familiarity of your home environment.
